First, first to the shore But last in the sea Can’t keep up the score That no one believes Don’t spend all your words at once You might need them back Who’ll knock on the door, to take you at last? Cold water by my feet Sun, rise up over me I long for the verve And a song I deserve I’m the salt of, the salt of the earth Make, make up your mind And reap what you sow Take all of my time It’s easy you know No river can take you home When you’re already there I’ve paid all that I owe Like smoke in the air Cold water by my feet Sun, rise up over me I long for the verve And a song I deserve I’m the salt of, the salt of the earth

Shadow Dress 03:32
Come over the mountain and into my blood Show me the silence, show me the depths of your love I’ve been stuck in my head, since I opened the door To the sun in the west, as it settled on watery shores Well I looked to the east for the break of the day But all I could see was the shade, as it turned me away You told me I could take it off And tie it to a mountaintop For all to see just what I’m not For once in my life I wore it like a sunday dress Following my every step Calling every thought in my head, a waste of your time I woke in the night with a thought of my own I rolled to my side, and you cut it straight to the bone We talked through the night as I let you inside And I saw what I am, for the very first time in my life You told me I could take it off And tie it to a mountaintop For all to see just what I’m not For once in my life I wore it like a sunday dress Following my every step Calling every thought in my head, a waste of your time Hold on, just a little longer Take away my shadow Run away my shadow Can’t let you be my shadow all my life Hold on, just a little longer You told me I could...
3.
Drifter 04:59
There’s a tide inside of me It lingers in the corners of my silence When it opens wide I see How my fingers row me closer to your island Were you behind the waterfall Watching closely as I stumble through your features? I never said I want it all But still I long to get beyond your shallow beaches I’ve been waiting for your call Yes I’m waiting for your call I say it’s just a game you play You disappear each time I get a little closer I don’t belong here anyway Just want to hear you cry it all out on my shoulder While I’m waiting for your call Well I’ve been roaming coast to coast ‘Cause it’s the only road I know Take me below your undertow, to your heart Don’t let me burn out in the sand You be my curse, I’ll be your man Just want to learn to understand who you are I’ve been adrift so many days That I could hardly recollect my broken pieces So let me make you part of me And I’ll be part of you so we are always needed Well I’ve been roaming coast to coast... There’s a balance between you and me It’s a challenge so clear to see What’s right can’t hold what fades so bleak What’s left will show, in what shapes we seek A string of thought as I make my way Just a single caught, held up against the day Who roams this deep - who grows this high? Go home and be anyone we like
4.
Here on the top of the world Between the sun and the leaves and the earth I’m waiting for the right time to fall in the dirt And kiss you goodbye For so long I have planned my escape To let you in on all of the chances I’ve spend But every time I’ve crawled up in my own defense I miss you tonight I’m waiting for that call of the wild I don’t want to fall this time Everything is slowing down I’m reeling you in Though we’re close enough to touch It’s never close enough Your breath is all I need to come around Your kiss is like a summerbreeze Clearer than words And all I want to do, is lose myself to you I promise you that all we have is time You held me close when the hour was late But in the morning you told me to wait “I can’t help myself from going a little insane”, is all that I said I listen to the song of the birds in the trees They whisper I belong in the turn of the breeze Or maybe this is just an imaginate dream Inside of my head I'm waiting for that call of the wild I don’t want to fall this time Wherever I’ll run and hide I’ll save something for the climb Everything is slowing down...
5.
Uhh, we’re weightless underneath You whispered so light on your feet Never saw what you could see Time flies nowhere, yet again It’s changing the touch of your hand Will we ever stand a chance? Where did you go You’re out of my head Fools in feathers, lying there Next to each other so close and sealed No one saw who we became Lost recordings make their way Went to the burrows and back In time, for our legs to find their way But where did you go You’re out of my head How could you know That I’ll never forget? Here, you said As you put a feather in my hand Feel this when you’re world is sinking through the sand Uhh, we’re weightless underneath You whispered so light on your feet Never saw what you could see Time flies nowhere, yet again It’s changing the touch of your hand Will we ever stand a chance? Where did you go You’re out of my head
6.
A song for the cynic A song for the critic What we sing today, they will hear tomorrow So every kid can play in the world that follows The past and the future They dance for the new years If even night and day can come together Then maybe there’s a way to make it better Here’s a song for the times A song for the power That grows by the hour Will history repeat the song of giants Or will we all believe in one alliance? If you want to start a fire generations can admire You’re gonna need a bigger pile But if no one’s giving in How can anyone begin making any changes in our time? So here’s a song for the times Are we on the way?
7.
Wolves are hiding right outside my door Always hungry for more They say you can’t hide your palace from the storm When a fire burns from underneath the floor But there must be another way Is what the devil may say And if you listen too long he’ll settle in your veins So just open up and step inside the rain In your eyes I found what I’ve been trying to hide You caught me at my darkest time I’m splitting at the seams So meet me in the midnight pass Halfway to the greener grass Time has come to take the past And leave it all behind So meet me in the night A silence growing slowly through my bones Until I’m locked in its roam And every line of whispers turn to stone Should I pick them up and build myself a home Tonight You found what I’ve been trying to hide You caught me at my darkest time In the middle of the street So meet me in the midnight pass Halfway to the greener grass Time has come to take the past And leave it all behind So meet me in the night Alone we row With the undertow In your eyes I found what I could never find You caught me at my darkest time But this morning is for me

Siberia 04:24
At first light I felt something else As I coiled up around myself Silent as the hunters breath And violent as the kill A ring of smoke has left your lips Somewhere underneath the stars But I’m blinded in my search for it ‘Cause I’ve forgotten who you are I’ve got hundreds of thousands Thoughts in me howling Even though you’re clear as Siberia I’ll never see that far Well the winter’s bite is deeper now But it lasts to see me spend My ours making up for all I’ll never be again If I knew a way to separate What you ever thought of me From the man who let you get away I could finally let you be I’ve got hundreds of thousands Thoughts in me howling Even though you’re clear as Siberia I’ll never see that far I’ve got hundreds of thousands Thoughts in me howling Everytime I tried saying my goodbye You’d find me and hold so tight Even though you’re clear as Siberia I’ll never see that far
9.
Take Me Home 04:14
While we lie around here gaping Like an open pool of wounds Something is clearly in the making And it is going to show up soon Tell me can you see tomorrow? Did you wake from yesterday? If I fall, then will you follow And make the best of me? And take me home? Save our brothers and our sisters From this everlasting flood Who are we if we don’t listen To the ashes in our blood? Is this even my direction? Have I ever asked for one? If there’s no divine invention Then cast a clever passage son And take me home Where the valley unfolds and the barriers’ bound to break Where we bury our ghosts but we carry their time awake Say you’ll never let go of whatever road you might take The only mistakes are the ones you’ll never make And the truth is just a paraphrase So just take me home today Where the earth and sky devour My horizon patiently I will build myself a tower For your eyes alone to see So, when I’m lonely in the morning But too tired to wake you up And it feels like I’m still falling I will hold on to your love Hold on to your love Where the valley unfolds... The only mistake is the one you’ll never make... Take me home

about

Danish folk outfit SUNDAYS made a name for themselves by delivering introspective folk with unfaltering pop sensibility. On their sophomore album, “Inner Coasts”, the band add the urgency of rock music to their formula.

On their debut album WIACA (2019), danish four-piece SUNDAYS gained notability by capturing the infectious and accessible core of their songs in a breathy, synth-filled soundscape. After presenting their songs on stages across Denmark, Norway, Germany and Canada, the Indie Folk-group returns with Inner Coasts, an album that sounds even more direct - darkly shimmering piano, the crunch of electric guitars, and of course, the signature melodic touch.

As always, the songs were written by front man Magnus Jacobsen. The material for the new record came almost immediately, growing out of travels to both Japan and northern Norway following the release of WIACA. Still, he feels a clear distinction between the two works, both musically and lyrically. The themes of the songs are still personal, but feel more immediate than ever, he says: “I’ve let myself be more open in my song writing, more direct and perhaps even banal at times. Collaborating with Asger Techau helped me to unlock that courage.”

The influence of producer/songwriter Asger Techau (KASHMIR, The White Album) was particularly defining to the sound of the new record, producing and even co-writing the first singles from the album (All We Have is Time // Salt of the Earth). The rest of the album was produced as a collaborative effort between Techau and the band.

Spanning from open hearted love songs like ‘All We Have Is Time’ to the smoldering and ambiguous ‘Midnight Passing’, Inner Coasts is an album, that utilizes the nerve and punch of rock music while still conveying the plentiful melodic hooks that define SUNDAYS. Long time fans will immediately recognize the intense vocal harmonies in songs such as ‘Weightless Feathers’ and the hymn-like ‘Take Me Home’, while discovering new nuances of the band with cinematic rock songs like ‘Siberia’ and ‘Shadow Dress’.

Inner Coasts releases March 26th - on digital, vinyl and CD - via Celebration Records (DK) and K&F Records (DE)
