Danish indie-folk four piece SUNDAYS are working their way toward their sophomore album. September 18th, they are releasing new songs.

Since the release of their debut album “WIACA” in 2019, SUNDAYS have been hard at work renewing their formula. In February, the band revealed an upbeat and cheerful vibe on the maxi-single, ‘Colourblind // High or Low’, produced by Per Frost (GNAGS, iconic danish rock group).

For their upcoming maxi-single, SUNDAYS teamed up with Asger Techau (Kashmir, The White Album). Both songs bear the trademark of melodic attractiveness and melancholy associated with SUNDAYS - but this time around the band is expressing wider edges, dressed in bright and sparkly synths and loads of dimly shimmering guitars.

Both songs were written in a tiny lighthouse refuge by the island of Skrova, which is part of the mesmerizingly scenic island group of Lofoten, in northern Norway. “The scenery made its way into the songs, somehow,” frontman and songwriter Magnus Jacobsen explains. “Some new things really surfaced up there. The stillness was a catalyst”.

“All We Have Is Time” is the hook-driven A-side, showing a clear and punchier side of the new found paths of the SUNDAYS soundscape. It is an energetic folk rock-tune, a love song about the anxious realizations of adult relationships. When are you where you want to be, and how would you know?

With its airy vocals and hypnotic guitar patterns, B-side “Salt of the Earth” evokes broad horizons. Something is stirring in the songs’ internal monologue, a score to be settled. The song feels cinematic as the dry, laid back drum-cycle kicks in.

The release of this maxi-single points toward the next chapter for the danish folk outfit. Their upcoming LP “Inner Coasts” is set for release in march of 2021, in collaboration with Asger Techau.
